Glossy Blockout Printable Vinyl is a high-opacity self-adhesive PVC printing media with a white glossy printable face and grey-back blockout construction. It is designed to help cover existing
graphics, colored substrates and background interference while providing a bright surface for large-format printed images.
Jiu Mao Industrial Co., Ltd. has manufactured printable vinyl
and large-format printing materials in Taiwan since 1998. This glossy blockout series is available in three roll widths and two PVC thicknesses for distributors, wholesalers, importers and printing material suppliers
requiring standard, OEM or private-label products.
What Is Grey-Back Blockout Printable Vinyl?
Grey-back blockout vinyl is an opaque
printable self-adhesive media designed to reduce image show-through. Its blockout structure helps prevent existing graphics, substrate colors and visual background interference from affecting the appearance of the newly printed image.
Unlike translucent vinyl, blockout vinyl is intended to cover the mounting surface rather than transmit light. It is therefore suitable for opaque signs and advertising graphics, but it should not be selected for light boxes or illuminated backlit displays.
Key Benefits of Glossy Blockout Vinyl
- High-opacity coverage:
Helps conceal existing graphics, colored backgrounds and visual interference from the mounting surface.
- Glossy visual presentation: Provides a bright printable surface for vivid color, clear detail and high-impact
advertising graphics.
- Self-adhesive construction: Uses pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive for direct application to suitable prepared surfaces.
- Multiple ink systems:
Current products are designed for solvent, eco-solvent and UV-curable inkjet printing.
- Two thickness options: Available in 100 and 120 µm for different handling and material-body requirements.
- Three production widths: Available in 940, 1295 and 1550 mm widths for different large-format printing workflows.
100 µm vs
120 µm Blockout Vinyl
Both thickness options provide a glossy printable surface and high-opacity blockout construction. The appropriate thickness depends on handling requirements, installation method and the desired
material body.
| Thickness | Material Characteristic | Selection Guidance |
|---|
| 100 µm / 0.10 mm | Thinner
and more flexible construction. | Suitable for general signage, promotional graphics and projects where flexible material handling is preferred. |
| 120 µm / 0.12 mm | Thicker construction with greater material body. | Suitable for projects
requiring a thicker printable vinyl and firmer handling during production or installation. |
Thickness alone does not determine outdoor service life. Final performance also depends on the ink system,
print curing, adhesive compatibility, mounting surface, installation quality, UV exposure and environmental conditions.
Available Glossy Blockout Vinyl Sizes
All six current products have a standard roll length of 45 m and use acrylic adhesive with a double PE-coated release liner.
Common Applications
Recommended Applications
- Opaque commercial signage and signboards
- Retail and point-of-purchase graphics
- Exhibition panels and event displays
- Opaque storefront and window graphics
- Advertising
panels and promotional graphics
- Compatible vehicle graphics subject to application testing
Not Intended For
- Backlit light boxes requiring light transmission
- One way vision or see-through window graphics
- Projects requiring
an air-release liner unless separately specified
- Complex vehicle wrapping without conformability and removability testing
How to Select the Correct
Width and Thickness
- Confirm the maximum printing width of the printer before selecting 940, 1295 or 1550 mm media.
- Include trimming allowance when calculating the required finished
graphic width.
- Select 100 µm when thinner, more flexible material handling is preferred.
- Select 120 µm when a thicker media structure is required for production or installation.
- Confirm roll weight, printer feeding capacity,
core size and media handling requirements before ordering.
- Test print quality, adhesion and removability on the actual mounting surface before full production.
Printing
and Installation Considerations
- Confirm printer, ink, media profile and curing compatibility before production.
- Allow solvent and eco-solvent prints to dry and outgas according
to printer and ink recommendations.
- Apply the vinyl to a clean, dry and suitable surface free from dust, oil and moisture.
- The standard double PE-coated liner does not provide the same air-release structure as bubble-free vinyl.
- For
large panels or installations where trapped air is a major concern, consider Bubble-Free Blockout Vinyl.
- Final outdoor performance depends on the complete print, adhesive, substrate,
installation and environmental system.
Glossy vs Matte vs Bubble-Free Blockout Vinyl
Choose glossy
blockout vinyl when vivid colors, higher surface shine and strong visual impact are the main priorities.
Choose Matte Blockout Printable Vinyl
when glare reduction and a non-reflective presentation are preferred for retail, exhibition or brightly lit display environments.
Choose Bubble-Free Blockout
Vinyl when the installation involves wide panels or large surfaces where an air-release structure can support smoother application.
