Glossy Translucent Vinyl for Light Boxes & Illuminated Signs

Translucent Vinyl for Backlit Signage is a light-transmitting, self-adhesive PVC printing media designed for illuminated graphics. Unlike blockout vinyl, which is intended to conceal the mounting surface, translucent vinyl allows controlled light transmission through the printed image for light boxes, illuminated signs and backlit displays.

Jiu Mao Industrial Co., Ltd. has manufactured printable vinyl and large-format printing materials in Taiwan since 1998. This glossy translucent series is available in 940, 1295 and 1550 mm widths for distributors, wholesalers, importers and printing material suppliers requiring standard, OEM or private-label products.

What Is Translucent Vinyl for Backlit Signage?

Translucent vinyl is a semi-transparent printable media that allows light from a lightbox or illuminated sign system to pass through the printed graphic. It is designed to create visible color and graphic detail when the display is illuminated from behind.

The current Jiu Mao series uses a glossy printable PVC face, acrylic adhesive and double PE-coated release liner. It can be applied to compatible acrylic panels, sign faces and other prepared substrates used in illuminated display systems.

Key Benefits of Glossy Translucent Vinyl

  • Controlled light transmission: Allows backlighting to pass through the printed media for illuminated signage applications.
  • Glossy visual presentation: Provides a bright printable surface for vivid color, image clarity and high-impact display graphics.
  • Self-adhesive construction: Uses pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive for application to compatible prepared sign-face materials.
  • Multiple ink systems: Current products support solvent, eco-solvent and UV-curable large-format printing.
  • Three production widths: Available in 940, 1295 and 1550 mm widths for different lightbox and signage formats.
  • Standard roll length: All current width options are supplied in 45 m rolls.

  • Allow solvent and eco-solvent prints to dry and outgas according to printer and ink recommendations.
  • Test the printed graphic with the actual light source, panel material and viewing distance.
  • Adjust ink density and color profile according to the required illuminated and non-illuminated appearance.
  • Apply the vinyl to a clean, dry and compatible acrylic or sign-face substrate.
  • Test adhesion and light transmission on the actual production material before full-volume installation.
